Its the summer time & you might just be planning to avail some terrific holidays in India. There are certain things you need to take care of while planning an indian holiday sojourn.First thing is to read a little bit about the various cultures , terrains , flora & fauna of the places you want to go holidaying.Yes , an extensive study of indian geoghraphy is an absolute must must.India is a big country when compared to most of the others in the world. The temperatures , climate & landscape can vary to a great extent. While you have hills & snow in kashmir , you might even experience a 50 degree down chennai. It can be as arid as in gujarat & Thar or as rainier as any place else in cherrapunji.Hence a little knowledge about the area always help.As they say , India is a land of more than 3600 different languages & more than 10,000 different cultures. When in India , do as the Indians do.Be flexible , responsive and ready to bear some extremities ( Yes it would be required in great lengths..:). Apr- July is the peak summer time & Oct-Feb is the winter time.Because of its tropical climate most of the tourists like to visit India during winters. However there are lots of places one can look to visit in summers too.Major attractions for foreigners coming to India are : Goa beaches , Golden triangle ( Delhi-agra-jaipur covering tajmahal ), manali & kashmir, kerala , sikkim , temple tours , ajmer, pushkar etc.The list is endless. While planning for Indian holidays , make sure you carry enough variety of clothes i.e woolens, tshirts, mufflers & a nice pair of sport shoes as the weather is drastically different in each of the parts & it is advisable that one should be ready to face the extremities of the heat & inclemental weather which might be a concern for people traveeling from western countries specially. You also need to carry a lot of water & fresh fruit juices to keep u hydrated all day. Some Basic rulings about hotels Rule 1: You must make reservations in advance, especially in New Delhi, Madras, Bombay and Calcutta. Unlike the U.S,India merchants generally do not have a credit card facility. On the way to small towns, book a few days in advance. You can make long distance calls from one of the "STD" bootharound the city. (In fact, to save money, use of cabs. Hotels will charge extra for long distance calls, especially international). In Delhi, Madras to Bombay, you can have trouble finding accommodation if you had not made reservations 1-2 weeks in advance. Rule 2: In the North you would like a "geyser", which means that the hotel room has an individual water heater. You will not find it in the South. It may take some time to get hot running water in your room to the south, you might want to take cold showers to save water wastage. Rule 3: In the South, you have a ceiling fan. When the computer is off, the generator of the hotel usually does not run air conditioners, but will run ceiling fans. It's a big problem: getting stuck in a hotel without a ceiling fan and the central air conditioning. (The exception is when you are in a "luxury" hotel, the generator will run the A / C for luxury, I mean the Taj, Oberoi, Sheraton, class hotels, etc.). Rule 4: Make your reservations early for your first night in India. Do not arrive without a reservation, as you may get ripped off by taxi wallahs. Once you are done with the basic research your India holidays plan is about to roll.Remaining shall be discussed in our next article. http://www.antilogvacations.com
