The University of Cincinnati announced the results indicating a decrease in the rate of childhood eczema among children. Another study was conducted in 2011 at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, which also indicated that children raised around pets in the house were 50% less likely of developing pet allergies. Connecting Allergies in Humans and Pets There was a distinct connection between the study conducted on adults exposed to siblings and other children during childhood and adults exposed to pets during childhood, believes Canada Pharmacy Online. The earlier study results indicated that one out of every four adults complained of nasal allergies beginning sometime during adolescence. An interesting fact coming out of the study was that if a child had more siblings in the house, the chances of not getting nasal allergies increased. A similar pattern emerged among children below the age of five living around pets in the house. Occurrence of nasal allergies in adolescence decreased by 30% among people who grew up with farm animals, and chances reduced by 15% among children raised around pets in the house. The observations are based on survey results from tests conducted on people growing up with pets as children below the age of five years. Though the results are not conclusive in establishing pets help in preventing nasal allergies, the recent study does establish pets are not responsible for allergies in most cases. Tolerance is based on several other reasons including hereditary factors, exposure to allergens, and low resistance. By merely keeping children away from pets is not going to protect them from allergies at a later date. The reason study provides enough evidence nature has provided scope for both animals and human beings to live together in harmony without causing harm to each other through the atmosphere.
